Steam boilers

Grundfos' unique feeding pumps for steam boilers offer unsurpassed efficiency in a variety of industrial processes. Each multistage pump is capable of feeding the boiler between 0.5 and 180 m3 water per hour, and the volume is easily increased by applying more pumps.

Designed to withstand the high pressure, the high media and ambient temperatures and the significant number of starts and stops encountered in boiler applications, the pumps have been optimised in every aspect – and are even capable of efficiently handling poor inlet conditions. The pumps can further be supplied with an air-cooled top that protects the shaft seal from any damage caused by high temperatures.

ChallengeSolution
The very high temperature of hot liquids can be damaging to the pump and even destroy the shaft seal.Grundfos offers specially designed shaft seals that handle liquid temperatures up to 180°C, without external cooling.
The application's inlet conditions are poor.A low NPSH Grundfos pump is available, efficiently reducing NPSH and eliminating cavitation.
In high-pressure applications like steam boilers, the pump is subject to demanding operating conditions.Grundfos' dedicated high pressure pumps have been reinforced to be able to generate up to 50 bar pressure – without reducing the life of the shaft seal.
Energy consumption is important to your customer.Grundfos' high-efficient E-solutions significantly reduce energy consumption by automatically adjusting pump performance to the actual need. Naturally, the E-solutions meet international efficiency standards.
Stock management can be difficult due to the global differences in voltages and frequencies. Grundfos' E-solutions feature dual frequency and a wide voltage range, allowing you to use the same solution all over the world. Naturally, the E-solutions carry the necessary approvals.
In continuous operation it is crucial to avoid pump failure. Grundfos has developed a pump monitor, which can predict pump failure by monitoring different parameters. Based on the readings the pump's condition can be assessed.
Unstable pump curves are a common problem in high-efficiency pumps.Grundfos' E-solutions efficiently stabilise the pump curves, which greatly facilitate reliable regulations.

Important notes

  • Many national legislations allow downsizing of pumps if the pump is speed-controlled.
