Plymouth’s historical association with water has been well documented for centuries and that association got a recent boost with the opening of Plymouth Life Centre. Built at a cost of £46.5m, the facility opened last year. It offers local residents and visitors a wide range of state-of-the-art sports and leisure options all under one roof.
At the very heart of the centre is a 10-lane 50m Olympic size swimming pool and a diving pool which became famous in its own right when it played host to Splash! the recent ITV series.
Working with FT Leisure, Grundfos Pumps provided the comprehensive pump solution that is vital to the operation of these facilities. Included in the solution were a range of Grundfos NB single stage standard pumps used for circulation and Grundfos CRI multi-stage centrifugal pumps both of which have proven their worth in many similar applications.
The aquatics facilities are recognised as being the largest of their kind in southern England (outside the Olympic Park) and have attracted much attention since they opened. Grundfos Pumps are delighted to be part of a project that looks set to make a splash for many years to come.
